Day 10: Stockholm

This day was achingly beautiful. I’m in danger of falling in love with Stockholm, but have been warned about the winters here. The weather was about 68°, sunny and breezy. Outside-all-day weather, I wish we could import it to you folks back home.

We indulged in the Swedish breakfast buffet at the hostel, then went on a 2-hour boat sightseeing tour which was just lovely – maybe my favorite thing we’ve done so far. The culture of water and boats and bridges here is awesome. Then we went to Skansen, “the world’s oldest open air museum” which overlooks the city. You can see reconstructed Swedish buildings, traditional crafts, Nordic animals – it’s a wonderful place.

Then we headed to Pelikan (a traditional Swedish restaurant) for dinner – OMG! Best meal I’ve had in recent memory. First time trying aquavit (and pickled herring). Though we had done a lot of walking already, we decided to walk about an hour back to the hostel. Good to keep moving after the meatballs!

Don’t want this day to end but also am ready to sleep. Thank you Ana and Alex for such a lovely time!

Second highest step count of the trip!
