September 1st, 2008.

It’s the numbers that are hardest to find in the dark. Othe rthan that, typing in the car tonight doesn’t really present me with TOO much rouble. Irs 1.40am and I’m more tired than I would normally expect myself to be – but it really has been a succession of late nights, poor sleep and early mornings.

We’ve just crossed the border into Maryland and we’ve got about 2 hours of driving in front of us yet. we’re all staying awake out of solidarity, even though Rowan could probably use a snooze – or even better – ROWAN can come up to the front seat and stay awake with Heather an I can curl up in the back seat, unconscious and blissed. My eyes are suffering from allergies and skunk and fatigue and more and just want to collapse in on themselves.

Heather and Ken Gutberlet performing at Tyson’s Tavern in our first show back in Maryland. We performed to 4 people. Sigh.

Playing Pittsburgh University was a good way to end our little jaunt. A good turnout – a responsive audience – fun people. Heather and I were in rare form banter-wise and as usual, Rowan would just throw these Lovely little conversation grenades into the midst of all of our chaos, keeping the ball rolling and generally spreading carnage when things had gotten too peaceful.

So…. I went to the bank and found a bone…. creepy. I went to the bank the next day and found splinters of bone. Almost creepier.

It’s been a good trip – and it’ll be better once I can shove these college checks into my bank account. Touring’s lucrative, but often playing college shows means it’s more like waiting for a paycheck than the imediacy of most gigs.

Still, my health insurance is paid, we’re ahead of the game and Life’s okay.
