Valentine’s Day saw ilyAIMY performing at the 5th Annual Frederick Showcase – a yearly presentation of local musicians at the truly spectacular 2000-seat Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick, MD. We were partnered with J Berd (hip hop), Mr. Husband (an Indie rock, slightly country-ish act) and local singer/songwriter Luna.
Sound check. The sound crew was one of the best we’ve ever worked with and just a joy. 
“Real” venues and “real” shows… not that our other shows aren’t “real” – but a big theatre gig like this one means a whole lot of “these guys don’t have day-job” assumptions – like a 2pm load-in for a 9pm performance! Well, we tend to be early, we load-in swiftly, and with a professional sound crew, sound check is smooth and beautiful. We were done with sound check 45 minutes early and then … well… we wandered Frederick, nabbed dinner and enjoyed finding familiar names on the walls of our green room including : Tall Heights, Joan Baez, George Takei, the Bumper Jacksons, Keller Williams, Garrison Keillor, John Jorgenson and many more…
We made sure. Yes, there are extra hair pins here.

Rowan was the only one who couldn’t make the early soundcheck time, but the soundcrew did a great job of sneaking him on piece by piece in between other bands’ sets. That’s our stage manager Flash putting the finishing touches in place!
