Absurdly flattered to be on this bill (and absurdly flattered by SAW’s description of me), and not just a little intimidated! Jon Carroll’s a freakin’ legend, and deservedly so. I may end up being a little… extra!
Two of the area’s finest performer / songwriters will hold court about the state of and place for songwriting in what is sure to be an interesting year. They will be playing and talking about what it takes to write songs and make music that matters. They are a masterclass in how to do this music thing so many of us aspire to.
Jon Carroll
is a Grammy winning lifelong treasure and local hero who has never stopped making music that moves and matters. His music and musings span decades. As a member of The Starland Vocal Band and The Mary Chapin Carpenter Band he is everyone’s favorite piano, guitar and vocal hero. He has written and produced so many great songs and continues to shape and shake up music all over.
Rob Hinkal
is arguably the most important figure to local music in the Baltimore /DMV area. His legendary innovative band IlyAimy continues to explore the finer points of rough house folk music that pulses with energy, wit and an iconoclastic irreverence. Rob is also the resource and inspiration for so many local songwriters and musicians.
