December 12th, 2007.

I could never stand still, I don’t think. It’s good to be in one place for a while, I get to pretend to be a regular. People recognize my face and for a change, I recognize theirs.

They know what drink I want and they know that I’m kind of a pansy about the temperature of my coffee and don’t heat it quite as MEGAhot as coffee is usually heated. They know better than to add whipped cream. They know that I want soy milk. They know my wants, my desires, what causes me pain. I Love Java Mammas.

My open mics have been going really well and it’s such a different creature from Perk. Perk is pseudo-professional. We’re there to advertise, to meet people… it’s sort of a meat market as well. Plusses and minuses to it all. Java Mammas, on the other hand, is friendly and slowly growing into something almost familial. Oh, and they know about the soy milk. Perk is all fine and good, but they’re more about giving me tequila which is good for SOME nights…
