The Journal

Almost a quarter century of travel and time. Thinking out loud and to ourselves. Sometimes I regret what I say, but I figure it’s important we remember the stupid stuff too. Finding a way that the Journal can continue after a quarter century of existence (ish) has been a massive undertaking. I expect Susan to critique so that I can figure out how to make it work better for all of us!

  • Deja Vu.
Déjà vu. 18 miles from Cumberland again just as we were roughly 100 hours ago. Originally we’d planned to play Cumberland and just continue west but we HAD to complete the album first. I was convinced we could’ve done that… Read more: Deja Vu.
  • Unsafe Ways.
Somehow there is nothing more dystopian than our local Safeway. Kristen and I have been shopping there regularly for as long as we’ve Lived in the area. Even as Mosno decided he preferred the local Giant, and Amy and Nate… Read more: Unsafe Ways.
  • Let Us Show You How To End It.
For six years I’ve been recording, mixing, re-recording, re-mixing – obsessively. ilyAIMY’s songs have sat, never collecting dust, but being worked and reworked and panned and re-panned and distorted and reverbed. And Heather’s been breaking me of it. For the… Read more: Let Us Show You How To End It.
  • Fragile.
My Dad never said things like “that looks gay” or anything, and as a NASA scientist he wasn’t a Man’s Man or anything, but he definitely would point out things that I would do or mannerisms I had and would… Read more: Fragile.
  • I want one of THESE.
I could use a slow day. Here’s a never-posted snipped that looks like it was ACTUALLY written on July 18th, but I think I’d rather pretend it was today. Thank goodness for the slow days. I got to lay in… Read more: I want one of THESE.
  • The Music City Open Mic.
Okay, it’s taking me forever to get to the audio and video of this, as I’ve been focused on getting the new album done, so I’m going to post the photos and get to that later. Absolutely wonderful night, and… Read more: The Music City Open Mic.
  • Mathematically Speaking, Happy Monday.
As I try to bask in the joy of a good weekend, I find myself floundering. My mailing list entry was just wiped out by a crash. The news is the stuff of madness and hatred. And finding joy in… Read more: Mathematically Speaking, Happy Monday.
  • In the pines, in the pines.
Heather and I are camped out in Ocean City. Well, not “camped out”. robs don’t camp no mo. But we’re staying at Heather’s in-law’s very nice vacation home in the suburbs surrounding Ocean City, MD. It’s quiet. It’s dark. The… Read more: In the pines, in the pines.
  • The 200th SPARK w Annette Wasilik.
(yep, no sound for the first 20 minutes of the webcast or so, sigh – but I WAS AWESOME!!!) Tonight was a beautiful night. Annette was on point, but beyond that, we had an all-star turnout of regulars and old… Read more: The 200th SPARK w Annette Wasilik.
