Too many photos… prepare for the dump! (as we travel through the Blue Ridge Parkway and on to the Shenandoah Caverns)
we took July 2nd to travel up the Blue Ridge Parkway, but unfortunately – though the scenery and weather were stunning and the weird spherical thingies in the mountains intriguing – Kristen’s brakes began failing somewhere around mile marker 20. Fearing for the safety of ourselves and the weaselmobile we decided to come down and take a more direct route home.this creature seemed to follow us up the road – finally I got a decent shot!On the drive through the mountains we spotted this diamondback in the road. We wanted to pull it out of the road, but poking, nabbing and / or grabbing venemous snakes isn’t something I’m eager to do. He eventually gathered quite a crowd, trying to flag down a park ranger was rather fruitless as they were busy chasing motorcycle heathens down the windy roads. beautiful lakes along the Bluie Ridge Parkway So – we had to come down out of the mountains beccause we weere worried about our brakes – but that doesn’t mean we have to stop exploring! Shenandoah Caverns in Virginia!Outside the Shenendoah Caverns in Quicksburg, VA there’s a lot of weirdness. Whether it’s dinosaurs and Cooties or just big Lady Libertys – it’s this good celebration of Americana and kitch that first attracted me to the area… (July 3rd, 2017.)These animatronic bears were part of a display of old store fronts showcased here at Shenandoah Caverns in Quicksburg, VA. There was a button labeled “press here for bear action”…Inside the Shenandoah Caverns in Quicksburg, VA on July 3rd, 2017.
