I sort of want to put together a quiz to try to gauge
empathy and willingness to participate as a member of society. There’d be
questions like :
You are asked for guidance from an acquaintance. Do you :
- Answer the question to the best of your ability?
- Apologize for not being able to answer their
question and… not answer their question? (when really you could) - Not reply?
- Answer purposely sabotaging them so that they
will not interfere with your OWN goals? - Insult them for their ignorance?
As above, but online!
I don’t really know how many questions there would have to
be, and the answers would have pretty simple point values… and then you’d tally
things up. A bunch of A’s would probably give you lots of points, but a couple
of C’s and D’s wouldn’t be worth much, and even just a couple of E’s could put
your score into negative territories.
Assuming honest answers, people with perfect scores would be
allowed to run for leadership positions but would also be arbitrarily assigned “protectors”
to keep them from being taken advantage of. People with pretty high scores
would clearly be role models and be “auto-followed” by people on social media…
people with median and average scores would just sort of move along with their
Lives and probably won’t care about what they’re being denied… However, individuals
who scored low would be automatically “not followed” on social media and
blocked from management and teaching positions as well as disallowed from
running for public office. Hit lower and into the negatives and they aren’t
invited to parties. Beyond that, they’re not invited to exit their homes
because they’re not fit to hang with the rest of humanity. Discounted Amazon
and gaming accounts, but few opportunities to mix freely with online or
in-person society, blocked from online interactions with anyone but those in
the top two tiers (right? Because maybe they can be influenced positively?
Maybe not – because trolls DO try to drag everyone down to their level)
I guess – I’m a believer in personal freedom in regards to …
persons. But in society as a whole, respect for said society takes on more
weight than personal freedom. If you don’t want to positively integrate with
the world, that’s your prerogative, but you shouldn’t be allowed to negatively influence
it.
(inspired by someone responding to a question about the
music industry with “if you were good at your job, this wouldn’t be a question”
– cause, why answer a question when you can just insult people instead?)
