I’m listening to the various chirps and rustlings and miaows and movements that means things around me are alive and proceeding. I’m packing this and that and the other and thinking a little bit about our upcoming trip and and a little more about tonight’s gig and a LOT more about whether I can play a little more “Once Human” before I really need to be 100% packed up for tonight. (I can)
I do not understand how the beauty of LIVING can be so subsumed by hatred that one can devote one’s Life to making the world a worse place for others. Removing protections and undermining scientific research and making medical care harder for others to receive. It all seems to spiteful.
Fascist Rob gets it. That side of me that actually believes that democracy is a fool’s game and the only way to make the world a better functioning, if not actually BETTER place is to have absolute power. Yeah, FR knows that sometimes you’ve got to cut pretty deep, that the survival of the fittest is the way forward, that in the Real World there’s got to be sacrifice and that the only person who can legitimately make smart decisions about what (and WHO) to sacrifice is Fascist Rob…
But REAL rob, little old me, also knows that every nightmare powermonger out there probably has the world’s “best interests” at heart and has a different opinion over what that what and who be. Who should be sacrificed. What should be done. And that’s why I don’t ACTUALLY believe the world would be a better place just because I was in charge. I know there’s probably LITERALLY about 8 billion other pretty firm opinions on the subject.
However, I don’t hesitate to say I’d do a better job than what’s currently being done, though even amongst my “educated” friends I’m consistently impressed at just how ignorant the majority of them are about what’s going on around them. I think seeing people being shocked in response to no longer being ALLOWED to get a COVID vaccine has really bugged me. Like… what, you thought it was all “just” ICE vanishing people on the streets and troops in DC? The spectacular, broad-based ASSAULT on everything all across America is almost wider than can be grasped, but you’ve got to at least TRY.
At least understand the horror, even if you can’t do much against it.
