It is freakin’ COLD and someone stole the doorknob to Morsbergers. That’s a particularly Morsbergers thing to happen. I mean – OLD Morsbergers. The new Morsbergers? We’re better than this!
Actually, I doubt it was terribly personal. Four or five other businesses were broken into the night before, windows shattered, cash stolen. Of course people took to Facebook to express how it’s a result of Maryland’s light touch on crime, or the immigrants, or possibly cats.
Oh, woe is those cats.
To add to the chaos, the music from the weekend left a LOT of gear on the stage. All the house monitors, all the subs, power cables everywhere. Rather than break everything down and set up my own stuff I experimented with plugging into the house gear to mixed results. It turns out that the sound engineer from last night had the flu and started throwing up halfway through the set, and only broke down some of the gear. As I was setting up I found exactly where he’d quit, as there were unexpected disconnects and just a lot of hardware chaos.
Things were smooth once I was up and running – except for the tangle of power cables up front. At one point SOMETHING pulled loose and we lost power. The mixer rebooted sans incident, we got back up and running, but it killed the audio recording after that point and didn’t occur to me to restart it.
Shame. It was a killer night.
We do this every Sunday at Morsbergers Tavern (713 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD, 21228). Signup’s at 6.30 or so and we start the music at 7pm.
