I’ve felt a little bad that Heather has spent hours and hours on the past couple of days getting our brief funding campaign up and running, but I’m also really impressed with it all. She said it better than I would’ve. Coming together with the quote “there’s nothing less we could’ve said” is a truism I’d not have thought of – but yeah – these are the words that have been aching to come out of our mouths. Not all of them are songs we play on stage. Yet. But every song is true and we yearn to put them out there.
“There’s Nothing Less We Could’ve Said”
ilyAIMY (i love you And I Miss You) marks 25 years of “dangerous music for dangerous times” with a brand new double disc, featuring 21 songs.
“Look both ways, but not ahead; There’s no time to waste like your parents had”
Far from a conclusion, Let Us Show You How To End It arrives as a warning, a scream, a lullaby, and a soundtrack for a world in transition. And a reminder we have more in common than we think; all worried about where this is the story.
True war stories and real-life villains alongside fictional ordeals and mythical monsters. Road trip adventures and the day-to-day grind. The odd suggestion you’d eat your friends to gain their talents. Concern for our neighbors. Advice for our children. And as always, when hope and words fail, a song. Or 21 of them (it feels like we need a lot of songs right now).
ilyAIMY’s 12th album features the band’s familiar percussive acoustic sound and lush harmonies, but expands in scope. Harmonies are thicker and more complex. Hooks are catchier. Grooves are groovier. Infused with classical, funk, and even electronic music. All with the usual grit and insight you’ve come to expect from your friendly neighborhood “welcome jolt in folk.” Two timely covers (Bob Dylan’s “Masters of War” and Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock”) join 19 tracks from the band’s three songwriters. Yes! Rowan Corbett’s songs, a fixture of live shows, are finally getting full arrangements.

“Don’t Ask Too Loud, Just Have Some Faith”
We’ve always prided ourselves on bringing our fans “text, textures, and noise,” creating ALL of the content you read, see, hear and feel … ourselves. We write and arrange the songs, sing them, play the instruments (along with the occasional oil tank or tequila bottle). We take the photos, draw and scratch, lay out and design. We are here writing you right now. In a world becoming ever more artificial, we continue to stubbornly do it all to realize a complete vision. We’ve always been the “producers.” Most recently, we’ve also become the audio engineers. But every night spent mixing is one we can’t be on stage making money, and every ilyAIMY hour in the studio is one we can’t charge a client for. Rob and Heather gave up a fair amount of paid work for two months to prioritize this project, unpaid. The good news is we give ourselves one hell of a discount. Your pledge/pre-order/donation covers:
– double-disc duplication costs
– our digital distribution
– digital plug-ins and studio gear the album required
– pack-n-ship
– rights/licensing of the album’s two cover songs
– honorariums to a few experts/consultants who helped us
WHAT WE ACTUALLY GET is freedom from the streaming-income letdown. Knowing you’ll never make enough money to cover your costs limits your creativity and starts to confine your scope. You don’t just make less, you start to make less. Thank you for allowing us to create art in its fullness.
WHAT YOU ACTUALLY GET:
To continue to keep our costs low and just get the music out there, we’re offering a very limited number of “perks,” but some super-exclusive, fundraiser-only audio that will never otherwise be released.
