My brain is NOT ready to attack the day. Not ready to attack this relaxed day of relative-nothing. The cat wants something. It’s food. It’s ALWAYS food. But I have the suspicion he won’t eat It if I put it out so for the moment we will sit and stare at one another. He loudly, me silently, tapping away at this computer, sneezing my head off.

For I AM allergic to mornings, doncha know.
*sneeze*
I have a checklist of things to chew through today, none of which are urgent. I’ll get to them. My skin feels a little gross but I’m kind of reveling in it, knowing that I’ve got nowhere to go and I can FINALLY have a dirty day. I tell myself it’s good to give my hair a day off from washing and that it’s all part of a greater plan, but in truth it’s just satisfying NOT to bother getting in the shower.

And honestly, the fact that Kristen is currently IN the shower and not in a pliant, warm, cuddle is probablyl ACTUALLY what Prince is complaining about. If he can’t be sleeping on a human, why can’t he be eating? Honestly, I kind of relate.

Last night I played Local Cream, and though the gigs last weekend were awesome, and I’m kind of expecting the gigs THIS weekend to be awesome… last night was really, really sparse. I was kind of mortified at the turnout, especially since Heather and her husband had come out.

There were ups and downs throughout the night. But Kristen has come down. Prince is happy. I’m running out of excuses not to get on with my day. I stayed up WAY too late reading Elizabeth Bear’s “Ancestral Night” and my focus is suffering for that. Plus I think I’m nearing the end of the book, so the atavistic* desire to finish consuming it sitting in the cool autumn sunshine is almost overwhelming.

Gotta be strong.
Let’s get through that checklist first.
*atavistic seems a favourite word of “James S.A. Corey”, used throughout the Expanse novels often, and one I had to look up a couple of times because as I’ve gotten older, I seem to be getting bad at absorbing new vocabulary. However, it was unique enough that a) spellcheck is flagging it and b) it finally stuck so I DIDN’T have to look it up as it showed up again in Corey’s Captive’s War series. However, it’s even MORE a favourite of Elizabeth Bear’s so that, though I’m enjoying the book overall, I do feel like her editor should’ve caught the overly repetitive use of such a distractingly ubiquitous rarity.
