The Music City Open Mic.

Okay, I’ve gotta check my shutter speed settings if we’re gonna have drummers. They’re the only entities that move as fast as ME on stage! Let’s get a little less blur out of Arisen Phoenix next time he’s behind the kit at Morsbergers Open Mic! (which is probably next Sunday!)

Tonight we tried…

drums.

Meep!

Arisen Phoenix has been a regular for the last 6 months and I’m grateful as he brings me covers I recognize. (Darn kids today and their Crawlies and Cold Monkeys and Ronin Chapels…. [I jest, I adore all of you ESPECIALLY when you bring me something new-to-me]) – but a couple of weeks ago he asked about drums. He’d like to come play drums. I showed him that we HAVE drums. He said he’d be right back. And then he vanished for a couple of weeks. (this isn’t strictly true, but it amuses me to say it)

Arisen Phoenix was our house drummer tonight. Ferocious toms and a slightly manic grin and a challenge for my little singer/songwriter soundguy self, but we got there. I’m eager to try it again. We haven’t decided on future format, whether it’ll be a regular thing or not. Feel free to voice in. Except Juels. Juels? We know your feelings on this subject.

We do this every Sunday night at Morsbergers Tavern at 713 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD, 21228. Signup around 6.30pm, music at 7pm. 2 songs or 10 minutes, whichever’s shorter. The food’s awesome when it’s there (though tonight Rhianna broke her wrist and couldn’t cook because she heard we were gonna let the drummer have dinner too)
