| A couple of nights ago, Heather and I wandering around Catonsville in the snow. This is the way the town’s “main street” SHOULD look. |
I’m sitting in the basement cycling between mixes and last-minute tweaks, fielding texts from my brother as he wanders half-remembered Maryland highways, and sometimes taking my headphones off to listen to Lulu’s Fate practicing upstairs.

| A couple of hours before my brother flew in, we attended our friend Ana’s baby shower. As a fan for almost as long as Heather’s been in the band, Ana’s kid receives ilyAIMY onesies! |
No-one plays like Tom Espinola. The man’s a beast. Little jazz breaks sprinting out of almost-metal riffs in a traditional folk song that then resolve back into the “right” way to play mandolin. I think actually playing with him would be immensely distracting, but I bet it would level me up quick. Yeah. Level me up towards setting my guitar down forever. No-one plays like Tom Espinola.

| It is CRAZY that the ice on top of the snow is thick enough that I can stand on the surface of my mother’s backyard. |
The week’s been good. I was really, really stressed out about George coming to town. Mom-time has it’s ups and downs and George and I enjoy one another, but sometimes don’t communicate really well. Still, his sense of energy and joy is welcome in the midst of the snow and ice and his in-better-shape-than-me-ness has been a huge help in shoving boxes from point a to point b and breaking ice at point c. Also, it’s nice that all the cars in Europe are standard so he can drive my car. It’s kind a joy to see my Saturn get treated well under someone else’s guidance. We’ll see how he parallel parks though…

| George and I have spent two days pulling things out of various nooks and crannies of my mother’s house. It’s the little things that matter. George had really been hoping to find good cookie cutters, and we both knew this box the moment we saw it.
