Wednesday before the Lair my mom called and reminded me about the Artemis II moon launch. Watching from the Lair, my own little command center, knowing that my phone’s orders of magnitude more powerful than any of the “computers” we sent to the moon last time. Wish my dad was able to watch with me!
Last night I went to see a show. All the same friends I see every Sunday night at Morsbergers, but I wasn’t in charge, I didn’t have to fit in anyone else, I didn’t have to carry any speakers in or out. I just went to see the show.
Rebecca Berlin was hosting Alex Egnor (I really just can’t bring myself to call him “Old Crab Hands” and no-one seems to know who I’m talking about when I say “Alex in Wonderpants”), Juels Bland, Mike Bragg and – what tipped it over the edge for me – Quiet the Mountain. Beautiful night in Baltimore. Great music. Wonderful to just drive around town with Heather watching the sun go down.
Each masters of the guitar in their own way, Heather and I took seats up high at the Hargrove in Baltimore, MD and slowly gathered a couple of the cool kids around us. Heather and me, Maddie and Mo had the best seats in the house and sang along to the songs we knew and hummed and drummed to the songs we didn’t, which were few.

Baltimore is a strange town. Beautiful little parks cared for by local communities in the middle of run down city, just about as gritty as it gets. Heather hunted four-leaf clovers but alas, no luck.

A smaller-than-they-deserved audience, but ain’t that always the way. Alex in Wonderpants performing at the Hargrove in Baltimore, MD.

It’s been years since I got to see Quiet the Mountain and it sounds like they’ve been practicing their harmonies. Sounded incredible.

Juels Bland and Alex closing out the night.

Prince don’t care about the music as long as we come home and worship him as he sees fit.
