I could do this for a long time – just record my friends. Alaina ran into some problems with the engineer she’d been working with, a friend who just found himself out of his depth and out of time, and I was flattered she came to me. This morning we knocked out a couple of vocal corrections, overdubs and harmonies on her tune “Walking Through Waterfalls”. A great song with good hooks. I’m probably going to lay down some guitar on it as well but for the moment I’m just learning how to work with someone new.
Heh – and I finally found a match for my Shure SM7B! I’d bought it for Acacia’s album when she’d said that’s what she wanted to record with. It was absolutely the WRONG mic for her voice, and I’ve tried it on a couple of other people since then… but Alaina’s got that brash, ROCK delivery that the SM7B really responds well to. Good times were perpetrated.
